World Ranking of Female Judokas and its Relation to Results of Paris Olympic Games 2024

Abstract

Objective: The research aimed to identify the relationship between the ranking of female judokas in the World Ranking List (WRL) and the results of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Procedures: The descriptive approach was used to analyze the data of the results of (207) matches for (186) female judokas who participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The frequency and percentage of wins for the highest and lowest ranked judokas on the WRL were calculated, and a Chi-square test was used to find the association between the competitors' ranking on the WRL and match wins. Results: The results showed a strong relationship between the ranking of female judokas in the World Ranking List (WRL) and the Olympic results, as the highest-ranked players outperformed in winning (155) matches with a total percentage of (74.88%), and the lowest-ranked players outperformed in (52) matches with a percentage of (25.12%) at a significance level of p < 0.01 in favor of the highest-ranked judokas in winning.
